IRS Dependent
When we speak of IRS Dependent, this particularly means having been concerned with the definition set forth by the Internal Revenue Service, insofar as dependents are concerned. How would they qualify? Well, allow me to lay down to you important aspects regarding this claim by a person seeking IRS Dependent Benefits.
Reiterating what has been provided by the rules on IRS Dependent, in order for one person to qualify, there should be a clarification as to what would a dependent mean. He or she must be a natural or biological child of his or her parents. However there are exceptions to this general rule. Insofar as being a stepchild is concerned, he or she must be a legal one, or a foster child for that matter. What does a foster child mean? Well, this would seem to mean that your parents who are not your biological parents, have adopted you and raised you as their true child. If this is so, then you are also and still qualified as a dependent within the purview of the IRS Dependent.
The next thing that you are going to consider is the status of your siblings. He or she may be your siblings either by consanguinity or by legal fiction, or thru the imposition or operation of law. He or she may be adopted, stepbrothers or stepsisters, or any descendants. However, there is a proviso here -- that is, there must be compliance with the provisions of the law.
Furthermore, you as a dependent must still be not of major age. What does it convey? It only conveys one thing -- that is, you must have attained the age of 18 (meaning, should you attain the age of 19, you can no longer be considered as a dependent). This is again a general rule, there are two exceptions as to the matters raised in the foregoing, to wit:
- The IRS Dependent is now considering those with ages twenty four (24) and below. There is again a proviso here -- that is if they are still enrolled as full -- time student; and
- Insofar as exemption is concerned, should you be someone who supports another who is considered to be disabled, then you can very well avail of the said dependent benefits, irrespective of the requirements set forth in the foregoing.
The last one is the fact that the foregoing step - by - step procedure has qualified the rules set forth by the rules on IRS Dependent. You are also allowed to apply your ward in said dependent benefits should he or she be considered as your foster child for a period not less than a half of one year. Additionally, that person or minor must have been in your continuous support and custody for the period not less than six (6) months.
